When the Burley in Wharfedale Parish Council in West Yorkshire needed to organise roof repairs alongside a desire to reduce high energy costs, there was an obvious solution. With funds available to repair the roof and to invest in solar panels, the council decided it could solve its two problems in one fell swoop.
The Queens Hall in Burley in Wharfedale is made up of two large halls and a third room that is hired out for a range of community activities. With a roof repair and solar installation taking place concurrently, it was a potentially complicated project because several contractors would have to coordinate their work simultaneously.
The council sought the help of P4 Solar who advised of the best solution. P4 Solar was able to offer community project experience alongside a willingness and flexibility to work with other contractors. The result was 36 Clearline fusion PV16-405 roof integrated solar panels, inverters and battery storage to maximise energy efficiency and to significantly reduce energy costs.
Fred Maddocks, Operational Director at P4 Solar commented:
“The Burley in Wharfedale Parish Council carried out extensive research before deciding to proceed with P4 Solar. The installation of 36 solar panels was completed on Queens Hall during the winter of 2024, and the councillors are delighted with the installation. They are already benefiting from cost savings due to lower energy bills.”
